Buddy Project Helpline
Multilingual, psychosocial app-based helpline for people with diabetes led by volunteers with diabetes and caregivers.
The Blue Circle Buddy Project Helpline was launched in May 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, recognizing the urgent need for psychosocial and mental health support for people with diabetes and their families. The isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic heightened distress, anxiety, and depression—challenges that many people with diabetes already face. As India’s first psychosocial diabetes and mental health helpline, we continue to offer free, volunteer-led, app-based support in multiple languages. Our team consists of caregivers & people living with different types of diabetes, trained by the Centre for Mental Health Law & Policy (Indian Law Society, Pune) and Chellaram Diabetes Institute, Pune to provide basic psychosocial and diabetes support. Our volunteers are fluent in English, Hindi, Dutch, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, and Punjabi, ensuring that support is available in a language that feels comfortable to you.
